EDINBURG – In the final home match of her career, senior Dana Nazarova won her singles and doubles matches to lead the University of Texas-Pan American Broncs women's tennis team past the Prairie View A&M University Panthers 5-2 on Friday at the newly renovated Orville Cox Tennis Center.
 
Nazarova teamed with Reegan Greenwood for an 8-5 win over Brittany Harrell and Lerato Ndlovu at No. 1 doubles and then beat Ndlovu 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.
 
The Broncs (3-9) jumped out to a 1-0 lead after winning the doubles points 2-1. Didi Fatchikova and Wanda Beguelin got the other win, 8-1 over Christine Gwodog and Danielle Moore.
 
Greenwood made quick work of Jade Daniels at No. 5, 6-1, 6-1, and Manon Lavrijssen beat Erika Bond 6-1, 6-4 at No. 4. Fatchikova recorded the Broncs' other point in a long match against Harrell at No. 1. With the first set tied at 6-6, Fatchikova won the tiebreaker 7-0. Harrell bounced back to take the second set 6-4, setting up a super tiebreaker, which Fatchikova won 10-2.
 
The Panthers (4-6) got their wins at No. 3 and No. 6, as Gwodog beat Beguelin 6-3, 3-6 (10-3) and Capra Fellows defeated Roma High School alum Julia Perez 7-5, 6-4.
 
The Broncs are back in action when they play three matches in three days at head coach Stephanie Vallejos' alma mater, Northern Arizona University, starting with a neutral site match against Eastern Washington on March 30 at 11 a.m.
