Live Video and StatsWACO – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs women's tennis team heads to Waco to compete in the 2014 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regionals on Thursday a Hurd Tennis Center, on the campus of Baylor University.
Competition begins on Thursday at 9 a.m. with the opening round of the doubles bracket. Singles competition gets underway at 10:15 a.m.
The CompetitionIncluding the Broncs, there will be 17 schools competing. There will be one 128-player singles draw and one 64-team doubles bracket. Among those schools scheduled to compete are: University of Texas, Texas Christian University, Incarnate Word, UT Arlington, Abilene Christian, Rice, Texas A&M University, Southern Methodist University, Texas State, Sam Houston State, Baylor, North Texas, University of Texas San Antonio, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Texas Tech.

Katia Stavroulaki advanced to the main draw quarterfinals of the Marco & Co. Catering Islanders Open after winning her first two matches at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center.
Stavroulaki opened with a 7-6, 6-4 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Vanessa Figueroa and then followed with a 6-4, 6-4 win over UTSA's Lina Hallgren in the round of 16. Stavroulaki advanced to the quarterfinals to face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Judti Vives.
On the final day of the Islanders Open, Sophomore
Mariana Ranzahuer led the Broncs women's tennis team with two singles victories as they closed out the Marco & Co. Catering Islanders Open on Sunday at the H-E-B Tennis Center.
Ranzahuer defeated UTSA's Sonia Madronal 6-2, 6-0 in the back draw quarterfinal round to advance to the back draw semifinals against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Vanessa Figueroa, who defeated freshman
Lison Le Biavant in the back draw quarterfinals.
In the back draw semifinals, Ranzahuer defeated Figueroa in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 to advance to the back draw finals, where she fell to UTSA's Jacoba Junger 1-6, 2-6.
Last Time at the ITA RegionalsThe Broncs competed at the ITA Regionals last year.
Mariana Ranzahuer led the University of Texas-Pan American Broncs women's tennis team on day two of the ITA Regionals with a singles win at the Baynard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
After receiving a bye in the consolation round of 64, Ranzahuer defeated Sam Houston State's Natalie Petaia 6-3, 6-1 in the consolation round of 32.
Also in the consolation round,
Didi Fatchikova fell to Sam Houston State's Kayla Stevenson in three sets 5-6, 6-5, 10-5.
Christel Amsallem took UTSA's Daniela Garcia-Diaz to three sets but fell 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (10-2).
Ranzahuer then fell to University of Texas' Pippa Horn 6-1, 6-2 in the consolation round of 16.
GlobetrottersThe Broncs currently have six student-athletes on the roster representing five different countries, including the United States of America, England, France, Greece and Mexico.
Next UpThe Broncs will take part in the Texas State Play Day on October 25 in San Marcos.
