Box ScoreOMAHA, Neb. – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's basketball team fell to the Creighton University Bluejays 75-60 on Friday at CenturyLink Arena.
Junior
Shaquille Hines led the Broncs (5-6) with 16 points and seven rebounds. Junior
Everett Osborne scored a career-high 15 points. Sophomore
Janari Joesaar scored 12 points.
Austin Chatman led the Bluejays (9-3) with 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting, including 2-of-4 from behind the arc, plus 4-of-5 from the line.
Toby Hegner scored 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting with six rebounds.
Avery Dingman scored 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting with six rebounds and six assists.
The Bluejays scored the first seven points of the game, but Joesaar knocked down a three to put the Broncs on the board.
The Broncs were within 9-5 after an Osborne jumper with 15:38 remaining in the first half, but a
Zierden three was the first of six-straight made baskets by the Bluejays as part of a 13-2 run to put the Bluejays up 22-9.
Joesaar hit a layup and two free throws to bring the Broncs within nine, but the Bluejays responded with a 13-6 run to open up their largest lead of the half at 35-19 on a jumper by Dingman with 4:37 to go.
The Broncs scored the next six points to pull within 10, but Chatman hit a pair of jumpers as the Bluejays scored six of the final eight points of the half to go up 41-27.
The Bluejays pushed their lead out to 50-33 in the opening minutes of the second half, but a jumper and two free throws by Osborne followed by a jumper by freshman
Dan Kimasa brought the Broncs back to within 11.
The Broncs pulled within 10 at 61-51 on a Joesaar three, but the Bluejays scored the next 12 points to push the game out of reach.
The Broncs are back in action on Sunday at 1 p.m. when they visit the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
