SAN MARCOS – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs women's tennis team fell to the Texas State University Bobcats 3-4 on Saturday at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
 
The Bobcats (3-2) started doubles with a victory as the team of Katy Collins and Eva Dench defeated the Broncs' (1-3) duo of Didi Fatchikova and Mariana Ranzahuer 8-1. The team of Shannon Beckett and Monica Pieratt clinched the doubles point for the Bobcats with an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles over Reegan Greenwood and Katia Stavroulaki. Christel Amsallem and Wanda Beguelin closed out doubles with an 8-7 win over Jessica Kahts and Ana Laura Gutierrez at No.1 doubles.
 
The Bobcats won their matches at No. 1, 2, and 4 singles to clinch the match but the Broncs picked up victories in the final three matches. Greenwood took her match at No. 6 singles to three sets as she defeated Dench 6-2, 6-7, 10-8. Amsallem opened with a 6-2 first set victory over Collins but then dropped the second set 4-6 before picking up the tiebreaker 12-10. Stavroulaki closed the match out with a win over Beckett at No. 3 singles as she won 6-7, 6-4, 10-6.
 
The Broncs are back in action on Sunday when they head to San Antonio to face the University of the Incarnate Word at 10 a.m.
