EDINBURG – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs women's tennis team hosts the University of Missouri-Kansas City Kangaroos on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.
Last Time Out
The Broncs (6-4) are coming off of a 6-1 victory over the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas on Saturday.
The Broncs grabbed the early lead as they swept through doubles.
Didi Fatchikova and
Mariana Ranzahuer got things started with an 8-0 over Ashton Garcia and Alexandra Castillo at No. 3 doubles.
Reegan Greenwood and
Katia Stavroulaki followed with an 8-0 win over Tabata Lua and Eleni Anstova at No. 2 doubles and
Wanda Beguelin and
Christel Amsallem beat Mariaxi Herrera and Marija Dimitrovska 8-4 at No. 1 doubles.
In singles, Roma High School alum
Julia Perez got things started with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Alexandra Castillo at No. 5 singles. Amsallem then won her match at No. 3 singles with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Tabata Lua.
Elaine Barron continued the Broncs' strong play as she defeated Ashton Garcia 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6 singles and
Mariana Ranzahuer beat Dimitrovska in straight sets 6-3, 6-3. The Javelinas got their lone point of the match at No. 1 singles.
Scouting the Kangaroos
The Kangaroos are 4-8 on the season after starting the season 3-0. UMKC is coming off of a 7-0 loss against Iowa on Feb. 25.
Gaby Pintos leads the Kangaroos with five singles victories, mainly playing at No. 6 singles. Raquel Argenal, Mariam Kurasbediani, Maddie Schulte, and Dimitra Stavrianakou each have four victories in singles competition.
The last win for the Kangaroos came against Lewis-Clark State when they won 7-0 on Feb. 22.

Christel Amsallem's sister, Amelle Amsallem plays with the Kangaroos as they get to face each other for the first time this season.
The Series
This is the first ever meeting between the Broncs and the Kangaroos.
Globetrotters
The Broncs currently have 10 student-athletes on the roster representing eight different countries including Bulgaria, Canada, England, France, Greece, Mexico, Slovakia and the United States.

The Broncs hit the road to face Grambling State on Friday, March 7.
