Box ScoreLAS CRUCES, N.M. – The second-seeded University of Texas-Pan American Broncs women's tennis team fell to the third-seeded New Mexico State University Aggies 4-2 in the semifinals of the Western Athletic Conference Tournament on Saturday at the New Mexico State Tennis Center.
Due to weather, the match started with singles competition and doubles were to be played if there was a tie following singles.
The Aggies (11-11) jumped out to the early advantage after picking up wins at No. 2 and No. 6 singles. Sophomore
Reegan Greenwood then got the Broncs (13-8) on the board with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Annemieke Witte at No. 4 singles.
Freshman
Katia Stavroulaki tied the match with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Denise Van Der Ben at No. 3 singles before the Aggies won the matches at No. 1 and No. 5 singles to clinch the match.
The Aggies move on to the championship match on Sunday against the top-seeded University of Idaho Vandals.
