Women's Tennis Heads to San Antonio to Face Missouri State in Neutral Site Match Friday

SAN ANTONIO – The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs women's tennis team hits the road to face Missouri State University in a neutral site match on Friday at 9 a.m.
 
This is the start a stretch of 10 straight matches away from the Orville Cox Tennis Center.
 
Last Time Out
The Broncs snapped their four-match losing streak with a 6-1 victory over the University of the Incarnate Word Cardinals at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.
 
The Broncs (4-6) took the lead right out of the gates as the team of Christel Amsallem and Dominique Esparza defeated Malisa Vatanadilok and Bri Creek 8-3 at the No. 3 position. Mariana Ranzahuer and Lison Le Biavant then clinched the doubles point with an 8-2 victory over Matea Zemunik and Antea Dedic at the No. 2 position.
 
Katia Stavroulaki and Reegan Greenwood completed the sweep of doubles with an 8-4 victory over Rachel Sadiq and Sarah Savedra at the No. 1 position.
 
In singles, the Broncs kept things rolling as Natacha Minc opened with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Creek at the No. 6 position. Greenwood followed with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Vantanadilok at the No. 4 position and Ranzahuer clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Dedic at the No. 5 position.
 
Stavroulaki picked up her seventh win of the dual match season after defeating Zemunik 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 2 position. After Amsallem closed out her match with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Savedra on court three, the Cardinals (1-10) got their lone point on court one to close out the match
 
Scouting the Bears
The Bears are 3-8 heading into their match up against UTSA on Friday. They are coming off of a 6-1 loss to the Texas State Bobcats on Thursday. They have recorded wins over IUPUI, South Dakota State and Nebraska-Omaha.
 
Anelisse Torrico has an 8-2 singles record while playing in the No. 4 and 5 position. He has a perfect record at the No. 4 spot with a 4-0 while posting a 4-2 record at the No. 5 spot.
 
Miranda Poile is second on the team with five singles victories while posting a 3-3 record at the No. 4 spot and a 2-2 record at the No. 5 spot.
 
In doubles, the Bears are 6-21. The team of Rebecca McIsaac and Ema Turudija has posted a 2-1 record while playing at the No. 3 spot. Turudija and Poile have also posted two doubles victories with a 2-3 record at the No. 1 spot.
 
The Series
This is the first ever matchup between UTPA and Missouri State.
 
Globetrotters
The Broncs currently have nine student-athletes on the roster representing six different countries including Colombia, England, France, Greece, Mexico and the United States.
 
Next Up
The Broncs continue their road stretch on Saturday as they face off against the University of Texas San Antonio Roadrunners at 10 a.m.
