Honoring UTB Athletics History

EDINBURG – The UTRGV Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Monday the creation of a webpage that is dedicated to those who were a part of athletics at The University of Texas at Brownsville (UTB).

The page can be found here.

The history of UTB athletics goes back to 2006, when it started competing at the NAIA level as the Scorpions through a partnership with Texas Southmost College (TSC). Prior to 2006, Scorpion athletics competed at the junior college level as TSC.

UTB/TSC competed as the Scorpions through the spring of 2012. During the 2012-13 academic year, UTB/TSC competed as one entity for the final time without a nickname. In 2013-14 and 2014-15, UTB competed as the Ocelots.

There is currently a record book honoring the UTB volleyball team, which won two national championships under current UTRGV head coach Todd Lowery.

Final record books for baseball and men's and  women's cross country, golf and soccer will be available in the coming weeks and months.
