WAC Tournament Central
BROWNSVILLE – The No. 2 University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros women's tennis team will face off against the No. 3 University of Missouri-Kansas City Kangaroos in the semifinals match of the Western Athletic Conference Tennis Tournament on Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Brownsville Tennis Center.
Last Time Out
The Vaqueros (9-10, 3-2 WAC) closed out their regular season with a 1-6 loss to the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders back on April 17.
Doris Aleksovska recorded the only point for the Vaqueros after picking up a 7-6, 0-6, 12-10 victory over Kerry Galhos on court No. 5.
Scouting the Kangaroos
The Kangaroos are 7-16 on the season and 2-3 in the WAC this season. Marina Albert leads the team with a 12-9 record this season while going 4-1 in conference play.
Raquel Argenal and Melinda Johnson have each recorded eight singles wins this season while Dimitra Stavrianakou has added seven wins.
Albert has also teamed with Linda Ammar Mouhoub with a 9-8 doubles record while Johnson and Stavrianakou have posted a 7-9 record.
UMKC is currently on a three-match losing streak.
The All-Time Series
The Vaqueros are 4-0 all-time against the Kangaroos. They improved on their perfect record after picking up a 4-3 win on March 20 in Phoenix.
This will be the second season in a row that these two teams face off in the WAC Tournament. The winner will move on for a chance to win the WAC Championship.

Reegan Greenwood is currently fourth in program history with 53 career singles wins. She is now three wins behind Barbara Barrera (1988-90) for third place all-time. Ellen Nelissen (1991-95) tops the all-time list with 67 wins.

The winner of this match will move on to the WAC Championship match to face the winner of No. 1 New Mexico State and No. 4 Seattle U on Sunday at 9 a.m.
