LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley women's tennis team won their second straight match as they defeated Seattle University 5-2 on Saturday at the NM State Tennis Center.  
 
UTRGV (3-11, 2-0 WAC) got it going early in the match as they picked up the doubles point. After falling behind with a loss on court three, junior Dominique Esparza and freshman Anastasia Belyaeva picked up a 6-3 win over Barbara Carey and Kali McCollister on court two.
 
Sophomores Marine Darzyan and Dominique Ibarra then clinched the point with a 6-1 win over Michelle Lui and Madison Maloney on court one.
 
In single, Seattle U (7-9, 0-2 WAC) tied the match with a win on court six but Ibarra answered right away with a 6-0, 6-1 win over McCollister on court four for her sixth straight win. Seattle U then picked up a win on court one to tie it up again but UTRGV wouldn't lose another court.
 
Belyaeva defeated Maloney 6-0, 6-3 on court two to give UTRGV the 3-2 lead and then it was freshman Chloe Leclere who picked up the 3-6, 6-1, 7-5 win over Caroline Maltly to clich the win.
 
Darzyan once again closed out the scoring with a 6-7, 6-4, 10-3 win over Carey on court three.
 
UTRGV will be back in action on Sunday when they face New Mexico State at 1 p.m. to close out the WAC cluster at the New Mexico State Tennis Center.
