LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley women's tennis team closed out their weekend with a 2-5 loss at the hands of New Mexico State University on Sunday at the NM State Tennis Center. 
 
UTRGV (3-12, 2-1 WAC) fell behind early as New Mexico State (6-8, 3-0 WAC) picked up two wins in doubles to take the point. The duo of Marine Darzyan and Dominique Ibarra did pick up a 7-6 win over Vanessa Valdez and Rebecca Keijzerwaard on court one for their seventh straight doubles win.
 
In singles, New Mexico State picked up points with a win on court six and court one but it was Ibarra who got UTRGV on the board with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Keijzerwaard on cour three as she recorded her seventh straight singles victory.
 
New Mexico State clinched the win with wins on courts two and five but Darzyan would give UTRGV another point with a 4-6, 6-4, 10-3 victory on court four over Eli Arnaudova to close out the match.
 
UTRGV will be back in action on March 31 when they travel to Kansas City, Missouri to face the Missouri-Kansas City at 10 a.m.
