RIO GRANDE VALLEY – There are currently at least 11 players who previously played for the UTRGV men's basketball team actively playing professional basketball. Here is an update on how some of them they're doing, courtesy of
Eurobasket:
Luis Valera (2008-10) scored 14 points with nine rebounds to lead Azuqueca past Alcobendas 73-65 in the Spanish EBA. This is Valera's fourth year with the team. He is currently averaging 15.8 points and 6.8 rebounds in five games.
Janari Joesaar (2014-15) led Kalev/Cramo to an 84-80 victory over Zenit in the VTB United League by scoring 14 points with five rebounds. Joesaar is averaging 9.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.5 steals in four games.
Shaquille Hines (2012-16) scored nine points with four rebounds to help Fraport Skyliners Frankfurt beat Hamburg 83-78 in the German BBL. In four games, Hines is averaging 6.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game.
