LAFAYETTE, Louisiana –The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's tennis team picked up three victories on the first day of the Ragin' Cajuns Hidden Dual on Friday at the Cajun Courts.
Sophomore
Katarina Sasaroga defeated Louisiana's Hoda Habib at the No. 3 spot in the first round of the hidden dual. Sasaroga dropped the first set 1-6 but bounced back with a 6-4 win in the second. In the deciding set, Sasaroga won 10-5 win in the third set to clinch the victory.
Sophomore
Ana Platisa defeated Louisiana Tech's Nadja Manjon at the No. 2 spot in the second round of the dual. Platisa fell behind in the match after falling 1-6 in the first set before coming back with a 7-5 victory in the second set. Platisa clinched the win with a 10-7 victory in the third.
Freshman
Valeria Montero added a victory over Louisiana Tech's Rikona Murakami 7-5, 6-4 at the No. 5 spot.
Play will resume on Saturday at 10 a.m. with doubles.
