FORT WORTH – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women's tennis team gets back on the road for a pair of matches starting on Saturday when it faces Texas Christian University at 1 p.m. at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
 
UTRGV will then face UT Arlington (UTA) on Sunday at 10 a.m. at the UTA Tennis Center.
 
All-Time Series

• UTRGV is 0-6 all-time against TCU in a series that dates back to 1995.
• Both teams faced off last season and it was TCU who came away with the 4-0 win.
• UTRGV is 2-9 all-time against UTA in a series that dates back to 1990.
• Both teams faced off last season and it was UTA who came away with the 4-1 win.
• The last time UTRGV defeated UTA was back on April 6, 2008 when UTRGV won 8-0 at home.

 
Scouting TCU

• TCU is 5-2 on the season.
• TCU is currently on a two-match losing streak after falling to Texas A&M and Rice.
• TCU opened the season with five straight wins after defeating Abilene Christian, McNeese State, New Mexico, Lamar, and North Texas.
• TCU is 28-13 in singles play with Mercedes Aristegui leading the way with a 6-1 record.
• In doubles, TCU is 11-6 with the duo of Chloe Hule and Stevie Kennedy pacing TCU with a 5-2 record.

 
Scouting UTA

• UTA is 5-1 on the season.
• UTA is coming off of a 1-5 loss at the hands of Wichita State at home.
• UTA's wins this season have come against Texas-Permian Basin, Prairie View A&M, UTEP, McNeese State, and Western Kentucky.
• Carla Pons and Almudena Boza lead UTA in singles play with a 5-1 record. 
• In doubles, Momoka Horiguchi and Pons pace UTA with a 5-0 record.

 
Last Time Out

• UTRGV picked up its first win of the season defeating Lamar 4-3 at home on Feb. 10.
• UTRGV took the doubles point with wins on courts 1 and 3.
• Lamar won on singles courts two, three and six but UTRGV countered with wins on the other three courts.
• Dominique Ibarra beat Jasmin Buchta 6-3, 6-1.
• Nethmi Waduge beat Natalia Garcia Molina 0-6, 6-1, 6-4
• Marine Darzyan clinched the win with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 win over Laura Sola.

 
WAC Doubles Team of the Week Times Two

• Sandra Putz and Katarina Sasaroga improved to 3-0 on the season with a 6-2 win over Sanja Jolic and Sola on court three.
• The duo also added a 6-0 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Maria Maldonado and Vanessa Reinicke.
• With their performance last week, the duo earned their second WAC Doubles Team of the Week honor.
