FORT WORTH – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women's tennis team dropped the first match of the weekend 0-4 to Texas Christian University (TCU) on Saturday at Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
UTRGV (1-4) fell behind early in the match as TCU (6-2) took doubles matches on courts three and two to clinch the point.
TCU then followed with wins on singles courts four, three and two to clinch the win. The other three matches were stopped as the match was clinched.
Senior
Dominique Ibarra, who was down a set, was up 4-3 in the second when her match with Aleksa Cveticanin was stopped.
Freshman
Nethmi Waduge was in a battle with Addy Guevara on court five as she forced a tiebreaker in the first set but fell 7-6. Her match was stopped before the second set could begin.
UTRGV will be back in action on Sunday when it travels to Arlington to face UT Arlington at 10 a.m.
