EDINBURG– The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women's tennis team swept through its match with Laredo Community College to pick up the 7-0 victory on Monday at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.
 
UTRGV (3-7) got things started by sweeping through doubles play. Seniors Marine Darzyan and Dominique Ibarra found themselves trailing against Kyra Akinnibi on court one but bounced back to win 6-4.
 
On court two, Seniors Doris Aleksovska and Michelle Walker didn't drop a game to Chantal Lozano and Monika Cantu winning 6-0 on court two. Freshmen Sandra Putz and Katarina Sasaroga put the final touches with a 6-1 win on court three over Priscilla Morales and Evelyn Hernandez.
 
UTRGV then followed by dominating through singles play by winning on every court. Darzyan picked up the win on court tow after Akinnibi had to withdraw. Ibarra didn't drop a game two Lozano on court one and won 6-0, 6-0.
 
Walker defeated Oliveira 6-1, 6-1 on court three. On court four, Aleksovska recorded a 6-1, 6-1 win over Morales and then on court five Nethmi Waduge picked up the 6-1, 6-2 win over Cantu on court five and Putz also recorded a 6-0, 6-0 win over Destiny Garza on court six. 
 
UTRGV will be back in action on Wednesday when it hosts Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, as part of the South Texas Showdown, presented by Navy Army Community Credit Union, at 3 p.m. following the men's match at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.
