PHOENIX, Ariz. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) women's tennis team fell 3-4 to New Mexico State University in a tight Western Athletic Conference match on Saturday at the GCU Tennis Complex.
 
UTRGV (4-10, 1-1 WAC) fell behind early as it dropped the doubles point as New Mexico State (7-5, 2-0) swept through doubles.
 
UTRGV didn't give up after doubles as it came out with some fight in singles. Senior Dominique Ibarra extended her win streak to nine straight with a 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 win over Rebecca Keijzerwaard on court one.
 
Senior Doris Aleksovska followed with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 win over Neus Torregrosa on court four and then freshman Nethmi Waduge put together a 6-3, 7-6 win over Yadira Rubio on court five.
 
New Mexico State went on to win on courts two, three, and six to clinch the win.
 
UTRGV will wrap up its first WAC Cluster on Sunday when it faces Seattle at 11 a.m.
