CORPUS CHRISTI – Sophomore
Katarina Sasaroga won the singles championship in the "E" Draw to lead The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley women's tennis team at the Contender CrossFit Islander Open on Sunday at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center.
Sasaroga took on teammate freshman
Kristyna Mamicova in the finals and came away with the 6-4, 6-0 with Mamicova finishing in second place.
UTRGV added a pair of wins in the Singles "D" Draw as freshman
Valeria Montero defeated Trinity's Megan Flores 6-4, 6-4. Sophomore
Sandra Putzclosed out the weekend with a 7-5, 7-5 win over Lamar's Laura Sola Grau to finish in fifth place.
UTRGV will be back in action at the Ragin' Cajuns Invitational from October 4-5 in Lafayette, Louisiana.
