ABILENE – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's tennis teamed dropped its season opener 0-7 to Abilene Christian University on Sunday at the Teague Special Events Center.
Abilene Christian (1-2) jumped out to the 1-0 lead over the Vaqueros (0-1) after taking doubles matches on courts one and two.
Abilene Christian took five of the six matches in straight sets to clinch the victory.
Junior
Alicia Thal took her match at No. 6 singles to three sets against Claire Fisher. After falling 2-6 in the first, Thal bounced back with a 6-4 win in the second to force a tiebreaker set but fell 4-10.
UTRGV will be back in action on January 24 when it travels to Huntsville to take on Sam Houston State at 1 p.m.
