RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley men's basketball team (9-14, 5-5 WAC) hosts Utah Valley (9-15, 3-6 WAC) on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the UTRGV Fieldhouse for the Battle of the Colleges.
Deans from different colleges across campus, along with students from their colleges, will compete in a halftime free throw shooting competition. The winner receives a trophy. There will also be a spirit competition among the colleges with a second trophy at stake.
Thursday is also Faculty & Staff Appreciation Night. UTRGV Athletics is offering two free general admission tickets for each faculty or staff member with a UTRGV employee ID.
After the game, fans can make their way to the fieldhouse parking lot for the annual burning of the letters, hosted by Campus Programming Board.
If UTRGV wins, fans can take home a buy one, get one free Raising Cane's box combo coupon.
Current UTRGV students get free general admission with a valid UTRGV student ID.
Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online at
UTRGVTickets.com. Fans purchasing their tickets online prior to game day can save up to $2 per ticket.
The party starts at
Vaquero Village at 5:30.
