RIO GRANDE VALLEY – There are currently at least 11 players who previously played for the UTRGV men's basketball team actively playing professional basketball. Here is an update on home some of them are doing, courtesy of Eurobasket:

Perry Petty (2010-11) score 11 points with eight rebounds, four assists and five steals to lead undefeated Shahrdari Gorgan to a 79-61 victory over Raad (1-5) in the Iranian Superleague last Friday. Petty is averaging 11.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 3.4 steals in five games.
 
Shaquille Hines (2012-16) scored 16 points with seven rebounds and two blocks as DEAC fell to KTE-Duna 72-67. Hines is averaging 10.9 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.2 blocks and 1.6 steals in 13 games.
 
Janari Joesaar (2014-15) scored six points with 10 rebounds as Kalev/Cromo fell at N.Novgorod 95-85. In six games, Joesaar is averaging 12.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 2.5 steals.

Tyson Smith (2018-19) played for Orbi in Georgian A League last year
Lauri Toivonen (2011-14) plays for Nokia in Finnish Korisliiga
Luis Valera (2008-10) plays for Guadalajara in Spanish EBA
Terry Winn III (2017-19) played for Odessa in Ukrainian Superleague
