RIO GRANDE VALLEY – There are currently at least 11 players who previously played for the UTRGV men's basketball team actively playing professional basketball. Here is an update on home some of them are doing, courtesy of Eurobasket:
 
Shaquille Hines (2012-16) led DEAC to a 101-81 victory over the OSE Lions in the Hungarian A Division on Saturday night by scoring 18 points with seven rebounds in 26 minutes. Hines is averaging 11.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.5 steals per game. 
 
Lauri Toivonen (2011-14) scored three points with four rebounds as Nokia fell at Kataja 98-86 in the Finnish Korisliiga. Toivonen is averaging 2.4 points and 2.6 rebounds in 11 games.

Xavier McDaniel Jr. (2016-18) played for Seattle Mountaineers in the ABA last year
Perry Petty (2010-11) plays for Gorgan in Iranian Superleague
Tyson Smith (2018-19) played for Orbi in Georgian A League last year
Luis Valera (2008-10) plays for Guadalajara in Spanish EBA
Terry Winn III (2017-19) played for Odessa in Ukrainian Superleague
