RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's tennis team fell 1-6 to the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders, as part of the South Texas Showdown, presented by Navy Army Community Credit Union, on Tuesday at the Orville Cox Tennis Center. 
 
The Vaqueros (0-5) and the Islanders (9-1) are now tied at 15-15 in the showdown standings. 
 
The Islanders swept through doubles to take the early 1-0 lead heading into singles. 
 
The Vaqueros got their lone point of the match at the No. 1 singles spot where freshman Isabelle Bahr went three sets with Camille Townsend. Bahr took the first set 6-2 before falling 2-6 in the second. In the third set, Bahr fell behind early but battled back from down 2-3 to win the final set 6-3. 
 
The Islanders won the rest of the matches to clinch the win. 
 
The Vaqueros will be back in action on Saturday when it travels to San Antonio to face St. Mary's at 3 p.m. 
 
The next matchup in the South Texas Showdown, presented by Navy Army Community Credit Union will be a women's soccer match on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex.
