RIO GRANDE VALLEY – There are currently at least 12 players who previously played for the UTRGV men's basketball team actively playing professional basketball. Here is an update on home some of them are doing, courtesy of

Janari Joesaar (2014-15) scored 13 points with three assists and three steals to lead BC Kalev/Cramo Tallinn to a 102-70 victory over Tarvas in the Estonian EstLatBL on Friday. Joesaar is averaging 12.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.6 steals per game.
Luis Valera (2008-10) scored 15 points with 11 rebounds, but Guadalajara fell at Alcala 76-68 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division). Valera is averaging 17.7 points and 6.9 rebounds in eight games.
Lauri Toivonen (2011-14) scored seven points with nine rebounds and five assists as BC Nokia beat Kauhajoki 86-80 in the Finnish Korisliiga. Toivonen is averaging 4.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.
Shaquille Hines (2012-16) scored 13 points with seven rebounds and three blocks, but Debreceni Egyetemis (DEAC) fell at Kaposvari 93-72 in the Hungarian A Division on Friday. Hines is averaging 11.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.3 steals per game.

Xavier McDaniel Jr. (2016-18) played for Seattle Mountaineers in the ABA last year
Tyson Smith (2018-19) played for Orbi in Georgian A League last year
Lew Stallworth (2015-18) plays for Timisoara in Romanian Liga Nationala
Terry Winn III (2017-19) played for Odessa in Ukrainian Superleague
