RIO GRANDE VALLEY – There are currently at least 12 players who previously played for the UTRGV men's basketball team actively playing professional basketball. Here is an update on home some of them are doing, courtesy of Eurobasket:
 
Janari Joesaar (2014-15) scored 17 points with 18 rebounds and four steals to lead Kalev/Cramo to a 77-61 victory over Astana in the VTB United League on Monday. Joesaar is averaging 12.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.8 steals in nine games.
 
Perry Petty (2010-11) scored 11 points with six rebounds, four assists and seven steals to lead Shahrdari Gorgan past Naft Abadan 89-67 in the Iranian Superleague on Sunday. Petty is averaging 11.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 4.0 steals to lead Gorgan to a 14-0 record.
 
Luis Valera (2008-10) scored 26 points with 10 rebounds, but Guadalajara fell at La Matanza 93-70 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division). Valera is averaging 16.8 points and 6.2 rebounds in six games.
 
Shaquille Hines (2012-16) scored 10 points with four rebounds to help Debreceni Egyetemis (DEAC) to a 102-95 victory over Alba in the Hungarian A Division on Saturday. Hines is averaging 11.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.4 steals per game.

Xavier McDaniel Jr. (2016-18) played for Seattle Mountaineers in the ABA last year
Tyson Smith (2018-19) played for Orbi in Georgian A League last year
Lew Stallworth (2015-18) plays for Timisoara in Romanian Liga Nationala
Lauri Toivonen (2011-14) plays for Nokia in Finnish Korisliiga
Terry Winn III (2017-19) played for Odessa in Ukrainian Superleague
