COLLEGE STATION – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros track & field teams had a solid day at their final tune-up meet, setting nine personal records and recording five top-5 finishes at the competitive Texas A&M Alumni Muster on Saturday at E.B. Cushing Stadium.
UTRGV's distance runners turned in some of the top performances of the day. Sophomore
Samantha Gonzalez trimmed her 3,000-meter steeplechase time by nearly 30 seconds, earning a third-place finish in a personal best time of 11:06.92 – the fourth best time in program history. In the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, sophomore

Edward Ramos finished sixth and seventh and each notched PRs.

Alex Munoz closed the meet on a high note, claiming third place in the men's 5,000-meter run.
The men's 800-meter runners continued to impress. Graduate student La Joya High alum

th.
The Vaqueros tabbed two top-5 finishes in field events. Sophomore
Michael Campbell claimed fourth place in men's discus – entering the program record books for the fourth time this season in the event with the seventh best throw (50.82 meters). Sophomore PSJA High alum
Marco Guajardo was fifth in the men's javelin. Redshirt senior
Christian Hall-Gardner finished sixth in the men's hammer throw and 15
th in both shot put and discus.
Junior Harlingen High alum
Jasmyn Tulloch had a solid day to lead the Vaqueros hurdlers. She finished 18
th in the 100-meter hurdles and 13
th in the 400-meter hurdles, setting a PR in the 100 hurdles. Sophomore
Devon Goodwin notched a PR in the women's 400-meter dash, taking 26
th place.

Ackeem Gordon both ran personal bests in the men's 100-meter dash, finishing 41
st and 46
th, respectively, in the event. Sophomore
Jermarrion Stewart paced the men's sprinters with a 28
th place finish in a busy 100 dash field and a 21
st place finish in the 200-meter dash.
UTRGV's next meet will be the Western Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships taking place May 12-14 in Seattle.
