Nayla Harris Heads to New York City for USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships

NEW YORK CITY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) graduate Nayla Harris, a 2026 First Team All-America honoree in the women's 60-meter dash and four-time Southland Conference champion, will be competing at the 2026 Toyota USA Track & Field Outdoor and Para National Championships at Ichan Stadium in New York.

Harris will run in the first round of the women's 100-meter dash Thursday starting at 3:48 p.m. in Heat 4. The top six finishers in each heat plus the next three best times will advance to the semifinal round, which is scheduled for 5:18 p.m. Friday. The top two per heat plus the next three fastest times will move on to Friday's final, slated to begin at 6:45 p.m.

This year's meet is the first time the championship returns to New York City since 1991, and the big names are coming out to put on a show. Harris will be running in the same heat as Olympic silver medalist and two-time U.S. champion Sha'Carri Richardson.

Harris redshirted the 2026 outdoor season after a historic indoor campaign but has been competing unattached at various meets. In June, she won the 2026 ATX Sprint Classic with a personal-best time of 10.94 (not legal). She is currently ranked 63rd in the world according to World Athletics with her legal season-best time of 11.05 tabbed in April.

The USATF Outdoor and Para National Championships will air live on NBC Sports, Peacock and USATF.TV Thursday through Sunday.
