LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's golf team finished in 16^that the Golf Iconic Classic, hosted by New Mexico State, on Wednesday at the NMSU Golf Course. 
 
The Vaqueros posted a final round team score of 302 as they finished with a three-round score of 910.
 
Senior Mercedes Vega posted the team's best finish as she came in tied for 33^rd with a three-round score of 220. Vega posted a final round two-over par 74. 
 
Freshman Natalia Rodriguez finished tied for 72^nd with a three-round score of 229 after posting a final round 76. Freshman Camilla Herrera finished tied for 76^th with a three-round score of 230 after posting her second 75 of the tournament. 
 
Junior Cristina Galban finished tied for 86^th with a three-round score of 234 after carding a final round 80 and freshman Preston Saiz finished tied for 90^th with a three-round score of 230 after posting her best round of the week with a final round 77. 
 
Long Beach State took home the team championship with a three-round score of 841 after posting a final round 282. Nevada's Leah John won the individual championship with a three-round score of 203 after a final round 68.
 
The Vaqueros will be back in action on from Oct. 22-24 when they compete at the Clash at Boulder Creek at Boulder Creek Golf Course.­
