MONROE, La. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's golf team sits in 11^th place after the first day of the ULM Invitational on Monday at Bayou DeSiard Country Club. 
 
The Vaqueros opened the tournament with a first round 302 before posting a second round 304 for a two-round total of 606. UTRGV sits just three shots outside the top-10 and 10 shots out of fifth place. 
 
Sophomore Zoe Hobbs led the Vaqueros on the first day as she sits tied for 30^th with a two-round total of 151. Hobbs carded a first round 73 before posting a second round 78. Sophomore Miriam Barcalova is tied for 35^th with a two-round total of 152 as she opened with a first round 81 and then improved by 10 strokes with a second round one-under par 71. 
 
Sophomore Pitchayapa Pungpho is tied or 40^th with a two-round total of 153 after opening with a first round 74 and then posting a second round 79. Junior Natalia Rodriguez is tied for 43^rd with a two-round total of 154 after posting rounds of 78 and 76. 
 
Junior Preston Saiz and senior Cristina Galban, who is competing as an individual, are tied for 57^th with two-round totals of 157. Saiz turned in rounds of 77 and 80 while Galban opened with a first round 82 and then improved in the second round with a 75. 
 
Host ULM holds the first day lead with a two-round total of 577 with rounds of 284 and 293. ULM's Johana Sjursen holds the individual lead with a two-round total of 134. 
 
The Vaqueros will be back on the course on Tuesday with the final round starting at 8:30 a.m.
