RIO GRANDE VALLEY – There are at least 12 players who previously played for The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) men's basketball team that have played, currently play, or will play professional basketball in 2023-24. Here is an update on how some of them are doing, courtesy of

Former UTRGV players that are currently playing professional basketball:
Lesley Varner II (2016-20) scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in SK Slavia Praha's 102-100 victory over Olomoucko. Varner currently ranks third in the NBL with 22.8 points per game and 33.3 minutes per game.
Shaquille Hines (2012-16) led Bambitious Nara of the Japanese B2 League in their most recent game where he tied the team-high in points scored with 21 and added a team-high nine rebounds. Through six games, Hines is averaging 17.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 1.5 assists.
Luis Valera (2008-10) led Guadalajara with 19 points and six rebounds in their 81-73 loss at Movistar Estudiantes B. Valera is averaging 17.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists through four games. Guadalajara is 2-2 and sits in seventh place in Group B-A.
Janari Joesaar (2014-15) recorded eight points, eight rebounds, and five assists in 23 minutes as reigning FIBA Europe Cup champion Anwil Wloclawek fell to Surne Bilbao in their first game of the 2023-24 FIBA Europe Cup regular season. Anwil Wloclawek is 5-0 to in the Polish EBL.
Paul Stoll (2006-08) returns to Fuerza Regia de Monterrey in the Mexican LNBP for the 2023-24 season. Stoll leads Fuerza Regia in assists per game with 4.7. Fuerza Regia is 16-7 and sits in second place in the eastern conference of the LNBP.
Javon Levi (2017-21) scored eight points with five rebounds as KK Dubrovnik fell to Junior Zagreb 87-73 in the Croatian Premijer Liga. Levi is averaging 12.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in five games.

Johnny Crnogorac (2017-19) played for Sydney City Comets in Australian NBL One in the spring of 2023.
Jordan Jackson (2017-20) played for Antranik in the Lebanon-LBL in the spring of 2023, averaging a team-high 26.3 points and 4.6 assists per game. Jackson played for JUCO Products in The Basketball Tournament over the summer.
Justin Johnson (2021-23) was part of the Houston Rockets NBA 2K24 Summer League team in 2023.
Perry Petty (2010-11) signed for Ahly Benghazi in Libyan D1. In the spring of 2023, started for Shahrdari Gorgan in the WASL and averaged a team-high 21.6 points and 4.2 assists per game. Perry also finished second on the team with 6.3 rebounds per game.
Marek Nelson (2019-22) played for Team Phoenix in the Eurobasket Summer League in 2023.
Lew Stallworth (2015-18) played for Team Trouble in the ABA in the spring of 2023.
