Women's Golf Set to Compete at Golf Iconic Classic Starting on Monday

LAS CRUCES, N.M – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's golf team returns to action when they compete at the Golf Iconic Classic, hosted by New Mexico State, starting on Monday at NMSU Golf Course.


Tournament Format
  • The tournament will run from Monday through Wednesday.
  • 18 holes will be played each day.
  • Play will begin each day at 9:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.

  • NMSU Golf Course plays 6,420 yards.
  • The par for the course is 72.

  • Maria Jose Ramirez posted the team's best finish coming in tied for 11th with a three-round score of 217 after rounds of 74, 69, and 74. 
  • Samantha Garza finished tied for 35th with a three-round score of 223 with rounds of 73, 73, and 77. 
  • Sophia Tejeda tied for 42nd with a three-round score of 225 after posting rounds of 81, 78, and 78. 
  • Mercedes Vega finished in 69th with a three-round score of 237 with rounds of 81, 78, and 78. 
  • Julie Lucio finished in 75th with a three-round score of 242 after rounds of 86, 78, and 78. 
  • Pepperdine won the team title with a three-round score of 859 with rounds of 284, 291, and 284.
