Men's Basketball Alumni in the Pros Update

RIO GRANDE VALLEY – There are at least 13 players who previously played for The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) men's basketball team that have played, currently play, or will play professional basketball in 2023-24. Here is an update on how some of them are doing, courtesy of Eurobasket:
 
Former UTRGV players that are currently playing professional basketball:
 
Shaquille Hines (2012-16) recorded his fourth and fifth double-doubles of the season last week. Hines scored 21 points with 10 rebounds in his first game and scored 16 points with 16 rebounds in his second game of the week. Bambitious Nara of the Japanese B League dropped both games by a combined eight points to Fukuoka Rizing.
 
Terry Winn III (2017-19) played in his first game with Antranik of the Lebanese LBL. Winn was the top scorer with 19 points, eight rebounds and four assists in Antranik's 87-77 loss against Hoops.
 
Javon Levi (2017-21) scored 14 points, grabbed four rebounds, dished out eight assists, and recorded six steals in KK Dubrovnik's 90-80 loss against KK Dinamo Zagreb. Levi sits in 10th in the league in assists per game at 4.5 and is tied for fifth in steals per game at 2.0. KK Dubrovnik is 3-3 and ranks sixth in Croatia's Premijer LIGA.
 
Luis Valera (2008-10) led Guadalajara with 11 points and eight rebounds in their 78-66 victory over BT Madrid. Valera is averaging 15.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists through five games. Guadalajara is 3-2 and sits in sixth place in Group B-A of the Spanish EBA.
 
Lesley Varner II (2016-20) scored nine points and grabbed six rebounds as SK Slavia Praha fell at home against Pardubice. Varner ranks fifth in the Czech Republic NBL in points per game at 21.2 and sixth in steals per game at 1.9.
 
Janari Joesaar (2014-15) scored eight points with two rebounds, one assist, and three steals in 21 minutes as Anwil Wloclawek beat King Szczecin 93-92. Anwil Wloclawek sits in first place with a 6-0 record in the Polish EBL.
 
Paul Stoll (2006-08) scored four points with two assists and two steals in Fuerza Regia's 81-80 victory over Freseras. Fuerza Regia is 17-8 and sits in second place in the eastern conference of Mexico's LNBP.
 
Jordan Jackson (2017-20) is a part of the training camp roster for the Maine Celtics of the NBA G-League.
 
Other former UTRGV players, who have played professional basketball recently:
Johnny Crnogorac (2017-19) played for Sydney City Comets in Australian NBL One in the spring of 2023.
Justin Johnson (2021-23) was part of the Houston Rockets NBA 2K24 Summer League team in 2023.
Perry Petty (2010-11) signed for Ahly Benghazi in Libyan D1. In the spring of 2023, started for Shahrdari Gorgan in the WASL and averaged a team-high 21.6 points and 4.2 assists per game. Perry also finished second on the team with 6.3 rebounds per game.
Marek Nelson (2019-22) played for Team Phoenix in the Eurobasket Summer League in 2023.
Lew Stallworth (2015-18) played for Team Trouble in the ABA in the spring of 2023.
