Men's Basketball Alumni in the Pros Update

RIO GRANDE VALLEY – There are at least 10 players who previously played for The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) men's basketball team that currently play or will play professional basketball in 2023-24. Here is an update on how some of them are doing, courtesy of Eurobasket:
 
Former UTRGV players that are currently playing professional basketball:
 
Lesley Varner II (2016-20) led SK Slavia Praha in scoring with 21 points while adding three steals, one rebound, and one assist in their 100-93 loss to BK Geosan Kolin in the Czech Republic NBL. Varner is averaging 20.0 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 1.9 steals through 14 games.
 
Perry Petty (2010-11) scored 14 points with eight rebounds and two assists in the City Oilers' 70-68 loss to the Cape Town Tigers in the Basketball Africa League. Petty led City Oilers to a 4-1 record across six days while averaging 18 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 3.4 steals in that stretch.
 
Shaquille Hines (2012-16) scored nine points and grabbed six rebounds in Bambitious Nara's 84-64 loss against Fukuoka Rizing in the Japanese B2 League. Hines is averaging 16.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 19 games.
 
Luis Valera (2008-10) scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds in Guadalajara's 87-74 win over Autocares Rodriguez Daimiel in Group B-A of the Spanish EBA. Valera is averaging 16.7 points and 6.8 rebounds through 10 games.
 
Javon Levi (2017-21) scored eight points with eight rebounds, five assists, and four steals in KK Dubrovnik's 86-72 victory over Skrljevo in the Croatian Premijer Liga. Levi is averaging 11.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and league-leading 3.6 steals in nine games.
 
Janari Joesaar (2014-15) had nine points, three rebounds, and two steals in Anwil Wloclawek's 83-58 victory over Czarni in the Polish OBL. Joesaar is averaging 8.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.0 steals through 10 games. Anwil Wloclawek sits in first place with a perfect 10-0 start to the season.
 
Paul Stoll (2006-08) had three points, five assists, and two rebounds in Fuerza Regia's game four victory over Abejas in the Mexican LNBP Playoffs. Stoll helped Fuerza Regia sweep the semifinals to advance to the championship. Stoll is averaging 6.5 points, 4.7 assists, and 1.9 rebounds through 27 games.
 
Jordan Jackson (2017-20) scored seven points with one rebound, two assists, one steal, and one block in the Maine Celtics' 110-85 loss to the Westchester Knicks. Jackson is averaging 3.5 points, 1.5 rebounds, and one assist in two games.
 
Other former UTRGV players who are playing professional basketball:
Terry Winn III (2017-19) is averaging 14.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.0 steal through three games for Antranik in the Lebanese LBL.
Johnny Crnogorac (2017-19) played for Sydney City Comets in Australian NBL One during the 2023 season. Crnogorac averaged 11.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.6 blocks in 20 games played last season.
