RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Monday that junior Tiffany McGarity, of the women's basketball team, is the Killers Golf UTRGV Student-Athlete of the Week.
 
McGarity averaged 20.0 points and 5.0 rebounds last week to help the Vaqueros go 1-1 with a big win over Abilene Christian. McGarity went 12-of-18 from the floor (.667) while going 13-of-17 (.765) from the free throw line and 3-of-4 from three-point range to go along with four steals. 
 
McGarity started the week with 10 points and six rebounds against Stephen F. Austin. 
 
McGarity followed with a career-night in the win over Abilene Christian as she scored a career-high 30 points with four rebounds, two assists, and two steals. McGarity went a career-high tying 9-for-12 from the field, including a season-high 3-for-3 from behind the arc, plus a career-high 9-for-11 from the line.
 
The Vaqueros will back in action on Thursday when they visit Southern Utah at 7:30 p.m. at America First Event Center.
