RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's and men's track & field teams were both picked to finish 10th in the 2023 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Indoor Track & Field Pre-Championship Coaches Polls released on Tuesday.
The polls are a result of the conference head coaches ranking all teams except their own based on where they expect them to finish at the meet. UTRGV's women were slated to finish 10
th of 12 ahead of Seattle U and Utah Tech, and the men were picked 10
th of 10.
New Mexico State was voted to be the top women's team, followed by Grand Canyon and Stephen F. Auston. On the men's side, Grand Canyon was chosen to claim its seventh-consecutive championship, followed by Utah Valley and Southern Utah.
The WAC Indoor Championships will take place Friday and Saturday at The Podium in Spokane, Wash. UTRGV has six student-athletes heading to the conference meet ranked among the top eight in seven events and 17 ranked in the top 20 in 16 events. Junior sprinter
