BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's golf team is in 11
th place after the first day of the ORU Spring Invite on Monday at The Club at Indian Springs.
The Vaqueros opened with a first round team score of 318 but bounced back in the second round with a team score of 307 for a two-round total of 625. UTRGV is just one stroke behind UT Arlington for 10
th and five shots back of Western Texas College for ninth.

Julie Lucio led the Vaqueros on the first day with back-to-back rounds of 76. Lucio is tied for 22
nd with a two-round total of 152. Junior
Sophia Tejeda is tied for 25
th with a two-round total of 153 after posting a first round 79 and then improving in the second with a two-over par 74.
Sophomore
Maria Jose Ramirez is tied for 36
th with a two-round total of 156 after posting a first round 82 and then posting a two-over par 74. Junior
Samantha Garza is tied for 63
rd with a two-round total of 166 with back-to-back rounds of 83 and junior
Mercedes Vega is in 76
th after posting a first round 81 and having to withdraw in the second.
The Vaqueros will be back on the course on Tuesday for the final round of the ORU Spring Invite with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
