RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) released the 2023 TicketSmarter WAC Outdoor Track & Field Pre-Championship Coaches Polls Wednesday, with The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) being picked to finish 10
th in both the women's and men's polls.
The polls are determined by votes from each competing school's head coach. The WAC Outdoor Championship runs Thursday through Saturday at Homer Bryce Stadium in Nacogdoches. The meet will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
UTRGV's women's team is projected to finish 10
th out of 13 schools. Coaches picked New Mexico State to win the meet with nine first-place votes, with host Stephen F. Austin and Grand Canyon picked to finish second and third, respectively, with two first-place votes each. UTRGV was picked to finish ahead of Tarleton, Seattle U and Utah Tech.
UTRGV's men's team is projected to finish 10
th out of 11 teams. The Grand Canyon men were picked to win their third conference title in a row, receiving 10 first-place votes. Utah Valley received one first-place vote and was projected to finish second ahead of Abilene Christian in third.
