RIO GRANDE VALLEY –The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Monday that the department's 268 student-athletes posted a 3.27 grade point average (GPA) with 158 student-athletes earning Athletic Director's Honor Roll recognition by achieving a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.25 while serving as full-time students as part of a team during the fall semester.
The AD Honor Roll recipients will be recognized at halftime of the men's basketball game against Tarleton State on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at the UTRGV Fieldhouse.
The department's cumulative GPA now stands at 3.34.
One hundred forty-two student-athletes recorded a GPA of at least 3.50 to earn Dean's List recognition, including 56 student-athletes that finished the semester with perfect 4.0 GPAs.
By percentage, 58.95% of student-athletes earned a spot on the AD Honor Roll, 52.99% earned Dean's List recognition, and 20.90% recorded 4.0 GPAs.

Eight sport programs recorded team GPAs above 3.25, led by men's golf, which recorded a 3.83 GPA as 11 of their 12 student-athletes earned both AD Honor Roll and Dean's List recognition, including seven 4.0 GPAs. Men's golf team led the department in percentage of AD Honor roll recipients (91.67%), Dean's List honorees (91.67%), and 4.0 GPAs (58.33%).
Women's soccer led the way among women's teams with a 3.69 GPA as 23 of their 26 student-athletes earned a spot on the AD Honor Roll, 22 made the Dean's List, and a department high-tying nine had 4.0 GPAs. Men's soccer also had nine student-athletes with 4.0 GPAs. Women's soccer team led the department in percentage of AD Honor roll recipients (88.46%), Dean's List honorees (84.62%), and 4.0 GPAs (34.62%).
Baseball led the department in those on the AD Honor Roll (27) and the Dean's List (26) while women's soccer ranked second in both categories.
