RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Athletic Department is taking a look back at a historic calendar year through a series of stories titled, "Year In Review."
This is the eighth installment of the series which has reviewed UTRGV's
facilities enhancements,
competitive excellence,
fan support,
academic success,
community engagement,
consumables, and
head coaches hired in 2024.
In March, UTRGV announced that it accepted an invitation to join the Southland Conference (SLC) as a full-time member. To read more about UTRGV acceptance into the Southland, click

Since joining the Southland, UTRGV has qualified for the women's soccer and volleyball SLC tournaments and seven all-conference nominations. In addition to those accolades, volleyball's
Isabella Costantini earned Newcomer and Setter of the Year while
Celianiz Cabranes won Libero of the Year.
