Men's Basketball Alumni in the Pros Update

RIO GRANDE VALLEY – There are at least 10 players who previously played for The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) men's basketball team that currently play or will play professional basketball in 2023-24. Here is an update on how some of them are doing, courtesy of Eurobasket:
 
Former UTRGV players that are currently playing professional basketball:
 
Lesley Varner II (2016-20) scored 16 points with nine rebounds and three steals in SK Slavia Praha's 96-91 win over Olomoucko in the Czech Republic NBL. Varner is averaging 19.9 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 2.0 steals through 22 games.
 
Perry Petty (2010-11) scored 28 points with seven rebounds and two assists in Mahram's 99-97 loss to MES Kerman in the Iran Superleague. Petty is averaging 23.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.8 steals through 10 games.
 
Janari Joesaar (2014-15) had five points with seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals in Anwil Wloclawek's 96-73 win over Tauron GTK Gliwice in the Polish OBL. Joesaar is averaging 7.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.2 assists through 19 games. Anwil Wloclawek sits in first place with a 17-2 record.
 
Shaquille Hines (2012-16) led Bambitious Nara in scoring with 20 points while adding five rebounds and six assists in their 83-74 loss to Fukuoka in the Japanese B2 League. Hines is averaging 16.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists through 35 games.
 
Luis Valera (2008-10) scored 16 points with seven rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block in Guadalajara's 98-96 win over Guimar in Group B-A of the Spanish EBA. Valera is averaging 16.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.1 assists through 15 games. Guadalajara is in second place in Group B-A with an 13-3 record.
 
Javon Levi (2017-21) scored four points with five rebounds, three assists, and one steal in KK Dubrovnik's 83-55 loss to Cibona in the Croatian Premijer Liga. Levi is averaging 10.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and a league-leading 3.4 steals through 16 games.
 
Jordan Jackson (2017-20) scored two points in the Maine Celtics' 136-95 victory over Raptors 905 in the NBA G-League. Jackson is averaging 2.4 points in 11 games.
 
Other former UTRGV players who are playing professional basketball:
Terry Winn III (2017-19) signed with Flexachem KCYMS Killorglin of the Irish Super League on Jan. 5.
Paul Stoll (2006-08) won his second Mexican LNBP Championship with Fuerza Regia with a 4-1 series win over Astros de Jalisco. Stoll finished the season averaging 6.3 points, 4.5 assists, and 1.8 rebounds in 32 games.
Johnny Crnogorac (2017-19) played for Sydney City Comets in Australian NBL One during the 2023 season. Crnogorac averaged 11.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.6 blocks in 20 games played last season.
