RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Monday that it raised a record $207,320 from a record 195 donors during the UTRGV Day of Giving on Aug. 27.
 
UTRGV Athletics shattered its 2023 day of giving marks, increasing total support by 848.96% and total donors by 314.89%.
 
"What an incredible outpouring of support," UTRGV Vice President and Director of Athletics Chasse Conque said. "Gifts like these make a real difference in the lives of our student-athletes. On behalf of the department of intercollegiate athletics, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to student-athlete success last week. I also want to convey my sincere appreciation to our coaches, staff, and student-athletes who embraced this initiative in a meaningful way to help us support our current and future Vaqueros."
 
All donations benefit the Vaqueros Athletic Fund (VAF) and specific sport programs, providing resources that are necessary to compete for championships, earn degrees, and create leaders of tomorrow.
 
Raising these crucial resources through various avenues of fundraising is paramount in this current climate of college athletics that is constantly evolving.
