LUBBOCK – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros indoor track & field teams broke three program records Friday to open competition at Texas Tech's Stan Scott Invite at the Sports Performance Center in Lubbock.
Junior
Nayla Harris broke the record she set two weeks ago in the women's 60-meter dash en route to a first-place finish in a loaded field, defeating opponents from Ohio State, UCF, and the hosting Red Raiders. Harris won her heat in the first round and ran 7.27 in the semifinals to punch her ticket to finals. She ran 7.26, a new personal and program best, to take the win.
Junior
Corin Burns followed suit in the men's 60-meter dash. He won his preliminary heat, then clocked 6.73 in the semifinals to secure his spot in finals. Burns ran 6.71, setting a new program record, in a sixth-place finish.

Jedidiah Udunna earned a fourth-place finish in men's long jump with a mark of 7.34 meters, which is sixth-best in program history. In women's long jump, sophomore

Efe Latham both notched season bests in Section A of women's weight throw as they finished sixth and seventh, respectively.
Freshman
Krystan Bright reached the semifinals of the women's 60-meter hurdles and ran personal bests in both races of the day. She opened clocking 8.63 in the prelims to advance on time to the next round. She was 13
th in semifinals in 8.61.
Freshman
Jizzale Davis ran a personal record in the women's 60-meter dash prelims, finishing 31
st. Juniors
Cerrone Thompson and
Daniel Siaffa both tabbed personal bests in the men's 600-yard run. Sophomore
Jamari Harts added a personal best in the men's 400-meter dash.
The Vaqueros finished Friday's action with seven personal bests and eight entries into the program record books. They'll wrap up the Stan Scott Invite on Saturday starting with field events at 11 a.m. and running events at 12 p.m.
