FORT WORTH – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's tennis team continued their run at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) Texas Regional Friday at TCU's Bayard H. Freeman Tennis Center.
 
The Vaqueros opened day two with the doubles main draw. Juniors Madeleine Joffe and Hitakamya Narwal battled, but fell, to Abilene Christian's (ACU) Alice Klinteby and Masha Vrsalovic, 8-5. Meanwhile, sophomore Mariia Bakhtina and senior Rhea Makesar dropped their match, 8-4, to Texas State's (TXST) Tadiwanashe Mauchi and Charlotte Roesch.
 
In singles, Makesar made her debut in the main draw, falling to the ninth-seed Elizaveta Morozova from Houston (UH), 6-1, 6-1.
 
The Vaqueros will continue their run at the ITA Texas Regional tomorrow with consolation for both the main draws in doubles and singles.
 
Starting with doubles, Joffe and Narwal are slated to play against UT Arlington's (UTA) Vanja Cado and Natalia Gonzalez while Bakhtina and Makesar battle Rice's Anushka Ashar and Divna Ratkovic. Both doubles matches are scheduled to start at 8 a.m.
 
In singles, Makesar is scheduled to face SMU's Elena Mireles in the first round of consolation at 11 a.m.
