RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Monday the hiring of
Ramsey Amador as a student athlete academic advisor.
Amador will serve as a student-athlete advisor for the football program. Amador, a former student-athlete, started his collegiate baseball career with UTRGV as a member of the baseball team in 2020.

Letty Hernandez said. "We have made great strides in academics. Ramsey was previously one of our student athletes and I know he will share valuable experience with our students. Ramsey is bright and personable and will be a great asset and contributor to our department's success."
The Edinburg native then transferred to Texas A&M-Kingsville where he finished his career with a .278 average across 142 games in three seasons with the Javelinas. Amador had a career-high .345 average in 2024. Amador also represented the baseball team in the Texas A&M-Kingsville Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
"As a native of the Rio Grande Valley and someone who began my college journey at UTRGV, I'm honored to return as a student athlete academic advisor," Amador said. "Having been a college athlete, I know firsthand the challenges of balancing rigorous academics with athletic commitments. I'm passionate about helping student-athletes navigate those demands, achieve their academic goals, and make the most of their college experience. I want to thank the mentors, coaches, family, and friends who have supported me throughout my journey. I'm excited to contribute to the success and growth of the student-athletes and the entire UTRGV community."
While at Texas A&M-Kingsville, Amador spent time as a private baseball trainer at the Cage Rage Facility and spent time as a camp coach for kids camps held by the Corpus Christi Hooks. Amador also spent time as an audit intern for King Ranch Inc.
Amador earned his Master of Business Administration and his Bachelor of Business Administration in management from Texas A&M-Kingsville.
