RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Monday that freshman Rylie Whitehair, of the women's basketball team, is the UTRGV Student-Athlete of the Week.
 
Whitehair nabbed two double-doubles, notching career-highs in points and rebounds, for the Vaqueros in their three-game homestand last week and helped the team go 2-1 on the week.
 
On Monday, Whitehair earned her first collegiate double-double, scoring a career-high 15 points and grabbing a career-high 11 rebounds, helping UTRGV earn an 87-81 overtime victory over New Orleans.
 
Whitehair followed up her performance with another double-double on Wednesday. Whitehair scored a team-high 12 points while grabbing a career-high tying 11 rebounds in UTRGV's loss to Nicholls.
