LAREDO – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's golf team finished in ninth place to close out the Border Olympics, hosted by the University of Houston, on Tuesday at Laredo Country Club.
 
The Vaqueros posted a final round 296 to finish with a three-round score of 874 as they finished eight shots back of Louisiana for eighth. 
 
Freshman Jorge Martin Sampedro finished tied for 22^nd with a three-round score of 217 after turning in a final round one-over par 73. Junior Rodolphe Cicala finished tied for 27^th with a three-round score of 218 after posting an even par 72. 
 
Sophomore Gabriel Dulon Villoslada finished tied for 34^th with a three-round score of 219 after carding a final round 76. Junior Esteban Gonzalez finished tied for 50^th with a three-round score of 223 after turning in a final round 75 and freshman Brock Porter finished tied for 65^th with a three-round score of 228 after a final round 80. 
 
Senior Arthit Kruaprayong, who played as an individual, finished tied for 22^nd with a three-round score of 217 as he turned in final round 78. Senior Luis Limón, who also played as an individual, finished tied for 34^th with a three-round score of 219 after a final round one-under par 71. 
 
Tournament host Houston won the team championship with a three-round score of 850 while Houston's Hudson Weibel took home the individual title with a three-round score of 205. 
 
The Vaqueros will be back in action from Feb. 23-24 at the Military City Collegiate, hosted by UTSA, at TPC San Antonio.
