HAMMOND, La. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's basketball team is looking to get back into the win column after a two-game skid as it faces the Southeastern Lions Saturday at 1 p.m. in a Southland Conference (SLC) contest at the University Center.
The Vaqueros (16-11, 13-5 SLC) had their program record eight-game road winning streak stopped by the first-place McNeese Cowgirls Thursday. UTRGV is now looking to win its 10th road win in the final away game of the regular season. Southeastern (4-21, 3-15 SLC) has been eliminated from tournament contention and is on a three-game losing skid heading into Saturday's contest.
UTRGV is in a three-way tie for the No. 2 seed and the double bye for the SLC Championship with Stephen F. Austin and Lamar. With four games left in the regular season, every battle will be important as the Vaqueros try to secure a top four seed to have at least one bye in the conference tournament.
