OLD HICKORY, Tenn. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women's golf team wrapped up play at the Nashville Invitational, hosted by Lipscomb, on Tuesday with several strong performances in the final round to move up to seventh place.
 
The Vaqueros shot a final round 293 to finish at 906 overall. The Vaqueros shaved off seven strokes from the first round to the second and another 10 in the third.
 
Individually, the Vaqueros showed improved play all around from junior Natalia Rodriguez and sophomore Zoe Hobbs. Rodriguez led the Vaqueros in the third round, shooting even par to finish tied for 20^th place overall with a total of 225.
 
Hobbs shot a one-over 73 to finish tied for 22^nd place with a total score of 226.
 
Sophomore Miriam Barcalova recorded a 79 to finish tied for 38^th place with a total of 230.
 
Junior Preston Saiz finished the tournament tied for 45^th, ending the final round with a total of 232.
 
Sophomore Pitchayapa Pungpho finished tied for 49^th with a three-round total of 233 after posting a final round even par 72.
 
Delaware led all teams with a three-round score of 882. Lipscomb's Ava Bankson led all individuals with a three-round score of 217.
 
The Vaqueros are back in action March 30-31 at the ULM Invitational, played at Bayou Desiard Country Club in Monroe, La.
