HOUSTON – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros track & field teams are heading to Houston to compete in the Cameron Burrell Invitational for one final non-conference tune-up.
The Vaqueros get going Thursday with field events in the morning and track events are scheduled to start at 2 p.m. Competing teams include the hosting Cougars, Houston Christian University, New Orleans, Rice, and Community Christian College.
UTRGV isn't deploying its full squad as some student-athletes are focusing on training and recovery with the Southland Conference championship meet just two weeks away. But the full men's hurdles crew will be on display. UTRGV's men's 110-meter hurdlers are ranked 23
rd in the nation as an event squad, led by junior
Jefferson Jean. Jean leads the conference and is 41
st on the NCAA West qualifying list with his personal and program-best time of 13.91, tabbed last weekend in Waco.

La'Zariah Bethany will look to continue their strong performances in preparation for the conference meet. Latham had a solid weekend in Waco in the throws and Bethany has shined in triple jump, currently ranking third in the SLC.
