BRYAN – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men's golf team tees it up at their first-ever NCAA Regional when they compete at the Bryan Regional, hosted by Texas A&M, starting on Monday at the Traditions Club.
The 54-hole event will feature 18 holes each day through Wednesday with all three days being broadcasted on
BabyGrandeGolf.com. UTRGV's first group tees off at 9:20 a.m. off the 1st hole.
The Traditions Club plays 7,227 yards and is a par 72.
The Competition
There will be a 14-team field that will compete for five spots to the NCAA Championship Tournament that includes UTRGV, Texas A&M, Colorado, Cincinnati, Texas, UNC Wilmington, Miami (OH), UT Chattanooga, Arkansas Pine-Bluff, North Carolina, New Mexico, Tennessee, TCU, and UNLV.

Last Time Out
The Vaqueros won the Southland Conference Championship back on April 22 to earn their first-ever trip to an NCAA Regional.
UTRGV finished just one stroke ahead of UIW for the program's first-ever SLC Championship as they posted a three-round score of 866 with rounds of 297, 281, and 288.
Jorge Martin Sampedro finished tied for third to lead the Vaqueros as he turned in a three-round score of 215 with rounds of 76, 67, and 72.
Gabriel Dulon Villoslada finished in seventh with a three-round score of 217 with rounds of 75, 67, and 75.
Esteban Gonzalez finished tied for eighth with a three-round score of 218 with rounds of 72, 74, and 72.
Rodolphe Cicala finished tied for 18
th with a three-round score of 222 after posting rounds of 74, 73, and 75 and
Brock Porter finished tied for 23
rd with a three-round score of 224 with rounds of 78, 77, and 69.
All-Conference Honorees
UTRGV finished with a slew of Southland Conference honors Director of Golf
Houston Moore was named SLC Coach of the Year.
Freshman
Jorge Martin Sampedro was named SLC Golfer of the Year, Freshman of the Year, and earned a spot on the All-Conference First Team. Sampedro, who earned the program's first-ever conference player of the year and freshman of the year honors, ranks 405 in Scoreboard rankings with a team-best scoring average of 71.6. Sampedro recorded 14 rounds of even par or better while competing in 11 events and posting five top-10 finishes, including two in the top three.
Junior
Rodolphe Cicala also earned a spot on the All-Conference First Team. Cicala ranks 621 in Scoreboard rankings with a scoring average of 72.2 while recording 13 rounds of even par or better in 11 events. He posted six top-20 finishes, three of which were top-10 as he finished tied for 18
th at SLC Championship and added a 19
th place finish at the All-American Intercollegiate, a 15
th place finish at the Military City Collegiate, a 10
th place finish at the Compadres Collegiate, a sixth place finish at the Monterrey Collegiate Classic, and a fourth place finish at the JT Poston Invitational.
Sophomore
Gabriel Dulon Villoslada earned All-Conference Second Team honors as he ranks 715 in Scoreboard rankings with a scoring average of 72.7 in nine events. He recorded six rounds of even par or better while recording two top-10 finishes, including a seventh place finish at the SLC Championship and added a fifth place finish at the Compadres Collegiate.
